Salesforce has officially introduced a significantly revamped version of Slack, centered on over 30 new innovations for Slackbot. The announcement, made during an event featuring Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff and Slack leaders, positions the platform as a central hub for AI-driven work automation in what the company calls the “Agentic Enterprise.”
Slackbot now acts as a powerful orchestrator of AI agents within Agentforce 360. Rather than serving as a simple chatbot, the updated Slackbot delivers advanced actions, reasons across connected systems, and automates routine tasks at scale. It integrates deeply with Salesforce’s CRM and other tools, allowing users to stay within Slack without switching applications.
Key Features of the New Slackbot
According to the presentation, Slackbot has evolved into a knowledgeable “teammate” and “chief of staff” for users. Built in partnership with Anthropic, it incorporates memory of user preferences, deep research capabilities, and the ability to orchestrate multiple agents. New enhancements include:
- Powerful actions and automation — Slackbot can handle complex workflows, such as generating pipeline snapshots, analyzing budgets, updating CRM records, summarizing meetings, and even managing relocation logistics or deal decks.
- Agent orchestration — It serves as the central coordinator for Agentforce agents, executing tasks autonomously while handing off to humans when needed.
- Contextual intelligence — The bot draws from connected data sources like Google Drive, Salesforce, and other enterprise apps to provide relevant insights tailored to the user.
- Voice, desktop integration, and extensibility — Additional skills allow users to extend its capabilities, with a natural tone and voice for more pleasant interactions.
- Broad accessibility — Features are rolling out to free and Pro teams starting in April 2026, with fuller availability in June.
Speakers emphasized that Slackbot “knows you” and prioritizes tasks intelligently, potentially saving users significant time—examples included 30 minutes per day or even 125,000 hours of manual updates across an organization.
Customer and Partner Perspectives
The event featured real-world testimonials from customers and partners. Content creator Mr. Beast (Jimmy Donaldson) highlighted how Slackbot streamlines company communication, allowing quick overviews on mobile without digging through channels. Other customers, such as those from Rivian, reported reducing deal deck stages by 60% through automation.
Anthropic’s Ami Vora described the integration as giving users “superpowers,” combining frontier AI intelligence with Slack’s comprehensive workplace context. Demos illustrated seamless scenarios like pulling Salesforce data directly into conversations or automating multi-step processes.
Broader Context: The Agentic Revolution
Marc Benioff framed the updates as part of a larger “agentic inflection point,” where AI agents possess encyclopedic knowledge and drive business outcomes. He noted that Agentforce has grown into an $800 million business with 169% year-over-year growth, underscoring rapid adoption. Benioff reiterated Slack’s role as Salesforce’s internal operating system, running the full business within the platform.
Slack leaders like Parker Harris and Rob Seaman described Slackbot as the fastest-growing feature in the product’s history, with “limitless” potential use cases. The company also highlighted its extensive app marketplace (over 2,600 integrations) and positioning for both small businesses (with built-in CRM) and large enterprises.
Availability and Outlook
The new Slackbot capabilities are positioned as immediately impactful for automating everyday work. Salesforce encourages users to explore the updates via dedicated feature pages and trials.
This launch reflects the accelerating integration of generative AI into collaboration tools, aiming to transform Slack from a messaging app into a comprehensive AI-powered workspace. As businesses increasingly adopt agentic systems, Salesforce’s vision positions Slack as the “new speed of work”—a single environment for context, action, and engagement.
